A good news!

The VideoProc Vlogger has rolled out a contest for its users that gives you a chance to win GoPro HERO 10, GoPro 3-way 2.0 grid arm tripods, SanDisk Extreme 64GB microSDXCs, etc.

VideoProc Vlogger Motion Editor

Now we come to a more interesting aspect of the VideoProc Vlogger, that is the Motion Editor. You can say this is the USP of this software. Motion editing allows you to imitate the way your camera actually moves.

It allows you to add the ‘ken burns’ effect aka panning and zooming that will make your slideshows more engaging. You can also incorporate other kinds of motion effects such as wiping or sliding or cinematic opening or closing. Some of its advantages can be listed as follows:

Cropping and reframing

Motion Editor reframes the videoclips to any desirable ratio without impacting the objects in frame. It can also reduce the video size in case it is not compatible with a particular social media platform. It does so while keeping the content of the video intact.

Keyframe motion

You are free to assign the initial as well as ending status to the video in question without having to deal with numbers and values. What’s more is that you can create amazing motion effects via the software, the likes of which you have only seen on screen.

Controlling the speed

You can control the speed of the video from the built-in effects available in the software. You can do the same by dragging the shape of Bezier Curve. The software enables you to introduce a number of other speed effects and yet make the motion effects look seamless.

Adjust the color range

There are three kinds of color editing that you can add to your video via VideoProc Vlogger Motion Editor. The first is one Hue, wherein you can tune the color from one shade to a completely different one. For example, red to orange to yellow.

The second one is Saturation, wherein you can increase the intensity of the same color. For example, you can change light blue to deep blue and vice versa. The third and final one is Luminance, wherein you can edit the brightness of the video as suggested by the name itself.

Using the Motion Editor in VideoProc Vlogger

These are some of the ways in which you can employ the Motion Editor in VideoProc to make your HDR videos more appealing to your audience.

Adding, Adjusting, and Navigating Keyframes

  • Click ‘Add Keyframe’ or right-click on your timeline.
  • Select a keyframe by clicking on it. (To delete it click Delete Keyframe).
  • Now click on Reset and clear your timeline of all keyframes.
  • Click on Prev Keyframe/ Next Keyframe.
  • Then click on Prev/ Next for moving a single frame with each click.

Using Motion Presets

  • Select the Motion icon from the toolbar after clicking on the videoclip.
  • Drag the playhead from where you want to zoom in.
  • Click on the Add icon.
  • Preview the video and set the keyframes the way you want to.

This includes changing the viewing box size or moving it to a point where you want to focus. Remove any black bars from your video, click on Original Ratio from the Frame Control option.

  • Lastly, click on Apply Motion.

Creating the Ken Burns effect

As stated previously, the Ken Burns effect includes a combination of the pan and zoom feature.

  • Choose the image or video on which you want to add this effect.
  • Click on Motion in the toolbar.
  • For adding the Pan effect, drag the playhead where you want the effect to begin from.
  • Then click on Move Right.
  • Click the keyframe and change the position according to your choice.
  • For adding the Zoom effect edit the size of the box of the second frame.
  • It should be such that the zoom in effect becomes smaller while the zoom out effect becomes larger.

Now play the video from the first keyframe to the second keyframe. You will witness that the lens will pan from one spot to another. Simultaneously, it will also zoom in and zoom out.

Creating the cinematic opening effect

  • Open Motion Editor and select the preset Cinematic Open.
  • You will find two keyframes added to your timeline.
  • Move the first one to the point where the videoclip begins.
  • Adjust second keyframe’s position.

Keyframe 1 and 2 should be kept apart to such a length depending on how quick you want the crop opening effect to be.

To make it faster, the distance should be reduced. If you want the cinematic black bar to be present move the third and fourth keyframe to the point where the clip ends.

Imitating camera shake

It’s possible that you have forgotten to do so while shooting the clip. Nothing to worry though as the Motion Editor can fake a camera shake pretty well.

  • Move the playhead to the point where you want the effect to be displayed.
  • Select Quake from presets.
  • Move the playhead to a different point and repeat the previous step.
